Is Your Contractor Insurance Actually Protecting Your Business?

Most Florida contractors already have insurance. The harder question is whether it still reflects the work they perform today.

Lite Speed’s Contractor Risk Assessment examines your current program, business changes, and operational exposures to help identify potential gaps before they become claim, audit, or contract problems.

What Is a Contractor Insurance Assessment?

A contractor insurance assessment compares your current policies with the way your business actually operates. It considers your trade, payroll, employee classifications, subcontractors, vehicles, project types, contract requirements, limits, exclusions, endorsements, and planned changes.

The goal is to identify questions or potential gaps before renewal, an audit, a certificate request, or a claim.

Having insurance is not the same as being properly protected.

A policy may have been appropriate when purchased and still fall behind the business. Contractors add crews, enter new trades, buy vehicles, accept larger projects, and work with different subcontractors. If the insurance program does not evolve, active policies may no longer match the current exposure.

A low premium or an approved certificate does not confirm that every relevant risk is addressed. The assessment asks whether the business, contracts, and coverage still align.

When Should a Florida Contractor Request an Assessment?

What Lite Speed Assess

The scope depends on the policies and documentation provided.

Business Operations and Changes

Services performed, trades, territories, project types, revenue changes, and contract requirements.

Workers’ Compensation Structure

Payroll, employee roles, classifications, subcontractor use, audit exposure, and consistency with current operations.

General Liability Protection

Limits, scheduled operations, major exclusions, endorsements, and additional-insured requirements. The assessment surfaces questions; it does not predict future claim decisions.

Commercial Auto Exposure

Listed vehicles and drivers, business use, ownership arrangements, and recent fleet changes.

Builder’s Risk and Project-Specific Exposure

Project values, locations, timelines, materials, responsible parties, and potential coordination issues.

Umbrella and Limits

Coordination with underlying policies and whether contract requirements or project scale justify reviewing current limits.

Certificates, Contracts, and Subcontractor controls

Recurring COI requirements, additional-insured or waiver requests, and subcontractor documentation. Legal contract interpretation belongs with qualified counsel.

Common Issues an Assessment May Uncover

These are review areas, not a claim that every contractor has these problems.

Coverage depends on policy language, facts, underwriting, endorsements, exclusions, and applicable law.

Why Contractors Choose Lite Speed

Contractor specialization

Lite Speed understands construction and specialized trades rather than treating the contractor as a generic commercial account.

We explain what deserves attention, why it matters, and what information supports a sound decision.

The goal is to understand operations and structure protection around the business, not simply issue another policy.

Contractors need help with certificates, audits, operational changes, and questions throughout the policy period.
